What is the Stroke Support Group
The Stroke support group is a chance for survivors of stroke to come together, share experiences and support each other. On occasions guest speakers will be invited to talk with the group to help improve health and wellbeing.
What is the role?
We are looking for people that have lived experience or a passion to support others dealing with the affect of Stroke and the role would involve supporting the current volunteers to plan the groups and help facilitate each session.
We would provide support and there would always be an established volunteer helping to run the group.
Location?
The Stroke Support Group is held at Dyneley House Surgery in Skipton.
When?
The first Wednesday of every month 10am - Midday.
Our volunteers take it in turns to help run the group so you would not be required every month but as often as you are able to help.
What skills do I need?
. Approachability
. Desire to help
. Excellent time keeper
. Good sense of humour
. Ability to use own initiative
I’m in, what do I do next?
We would suggest you visit the group at your earliest convenience and meet with the other volunteers and attendees and if you would like to take it forward, we will arrange for you to meet with our volunteer co-ordinator.
