To celebrate International Men's Day this month, our Community Cancer Champion Sharon along with other agencies including Prostate Cancer UK, Keighley Healthy Living and My Living Well supported a Men's Health Event at Highfield Community Centre to offer health and wellbeing support and advice.
The event was also supported by Keighley Deputy Town Mayor, Cllr Andrea Walker.
Sharon was on hand to offer advice on cancer screening as well as offering blood pressure checks.

This week we held a Men's Health Event at Bracken Ghyll Golf Club for their members.
The event was supported by WACA's Cancer Champion, Sharon Cope, along with Dr David Thompson & Fiona Bashforth and assisted by Will Stoker from the Club.
Dr Thompson did a talk which outlined the pros and cons of Prostate Screening and following the talk, 37 members completed a PSA test.
The PSA test (prostate specific antigen) is a blood test to see if you might have prostate cancer.

As part of the 'Get Online Week' at Skipton Library, Ayisha Hameed from Digital Inclusion Bradford and Fiona from WACA were on hand to speak with people about how to access the NHS App and how it offers a convenient access to some health services including ordering repeat prescriptions, managing appointments and viewing parts of your health record.


Farmers and visitors were offered the chance to have a health check including their BMI calculation, blood pressure monitoring and an atrial fibrillation check as well as the opportunity to discuss cancer screening and other community services available through WACA.
Over 100 attendees were seen with many feeding back that they were very pleased to be have been given the opportunity to have a health check at the event.

Our community cancer champion and social prescriber Sharon Cope had a great day at the Beacon health and well-being day at Cliffe Castle. The touring 'Beacon' venue was hosting a week of events to celebrate Bradford 25 and the Keighley and Worth Valley Community Partnership along with a network of local community organisations were invited to showcase their services for a day focussed around improving health and wellbeing
Sharon was on hand to talk about the services that WACA offer as well as offering information about local cancer support services and screening programmes.
