On 28th September WACA Primary Care Network Staff and Volunteers completed their Level 3 accreditation in Peer Support Training in partnership with the Cellar Trust Charity . This is the first step to setting up Peer Support Groups across the region , where Patients with a range of different lived experiences can come together to help and support each other.
Peer support involves people using their own life experiences to share understanding, hope and improved wellbeing with others. It’s about sharing knowledge, experience and practical help with each other, to improve emotional and mental health, while creating a sense of belonging. In a confidential, non-clinical setting, you can discuss your concerns at your own pace in an environment of mutual respect between peers and coordinators.
Here is the current list of Peer Support Groups available for WACA patients to attend :
- Stroke Support - Skipton
- Osteoporosis Group - Skipton
- Menopause Groups - Skipton and Ilkley
- Singing for Lung Health - Burley
