On 13th to 19th June 2022, we are celebrating Diabetes Awareness Week in Skipton.
Partners across Craven have come together to offer inclusive, engaging events, including training & peer support activities to raise awareness of Diabetes , and share lived experiences.
Timetable of FREE Events, *including health checks – testing BMI, Blood Pressure and Blood Sugars for early signs of chronic conditions
15th June
Diabetes Awareness Event at Ings School, Skipton 12-2pm .

Wellbeing Afternoon at Aireville Park, Skipton.

SELFA will be running themed activities throughout the week for children and families.
Emma Pears (CEO – SELFA) says “ Everyone knows someone affected by diabetes. Give yourself the best chance of supporting someone with the condition, by coming along to one of these free events”.
Bruce Woodhouse (Skipton Step into Action Trustee and Retired GP) says, “People with diabetes need information and knowledge to manage their condition. Bring along your questions and share your own experiences with others at the Q+A session”.

Give your health and well-being that kick it needs on the 7th May (9am) when local GP practices staff volunteer to help manage the local Park run at Cliffe Castle Keighley! Please come and run, walk or volunteer but above all get active – its great for your health!
And that’s not all, find out lots more about how to stay healthy and connected in Keighley as lots of local groups and communities showcase the great activities that can keep you healthy right here in Airedale. So please join us for an active Saturday and discover how you can make some small changes to lead a healthier life!
In addition, there will be a showcase of the great health and wellbeing services available in our local area provided by the great charities and community groups in Airedale!
There’s something for everyone with lots of groups and activities suitable for all ages and abilities!
There will also be offering basic health checks, and everyone is looking forward to the Tai Chi warm up!
A free event that is a great opportunity to start of your Saturday morning feeling fresh whether you take part, help volunteer, or come and show your support, it would be great to see you!
Emma Taylor from the WACA GP practices says, “Our GPs are part of the community and are really keen to promote the benefits of getting active in your community and park run is a great example of how you can run, walk or volunteer and get active and feel great at the same time!”
